KeeFox 0.7 has been released; this is the first Beta release of KeeFox. “Beta” means that this release is ready for wider testing by advanced KeePass users or other people with reasonable technical skills. While the majority of major features are complete, there are a number of important usability features that are incomplete and this may lead to confusion for less experienced users. I hope that KeeFox is simple enough that you will get by without documentation but I do intend to provide some before the 1.0 release and you can of course post your queries or comments in the forum.
If you identify a missing feature or possible bug, please search the tracker before beginning a discussion in the forum.
All offers to help with items on the tracker are welcome. I would prefer it if we could concentrate on the items slated for the 0.8 release but that’s not a strict rule so just get in touch if you think you can help in any way. Some features may be dependant on other tasks being completed first (this is less likely for 0.8 features).
Key changes since 0.6
- Added support for multiple URL matches with one login – manually add an “Alternative URLs” advanced string to an existing KeePass entry to make it work
- Multiple page logins
- Multiple passwords per form
- Multiple other fields per form (text, radio, checkbox)
- HTTP(S) protocol and NTLM proxy authentication dialog boxes can be filled (no password saving yet – manually add a “Form HTTP realm” advanced string to an existing KeePass entry to make it work, and make sure the URL field is correct too)
- Form submissions now simulate a “click” on the form’s submit button (if one can be found)
- Added button to manually detect forms on the current page (useful on pages such as live.com)
- Favicons automatically added to KeePass entry when a new entry is saved
- KeePass icons now displayed alongside login and group titles
- Installer now looks pretty
- New icons
- Simplified and improved the text for some parts of the install process
- Delete from Firefox option removed due to interface imperfections – can’t risk confusion with something like this.
- Active database can be changed from within Firefox (choose from any of KeePass’ most recently used databases)
- Fixed several stability bugs
- KeeICE now uses the .plgx plugin format, permitting simpler upgrade procedures
All changes since 0.6 can be found in the changelog

Hi,
will this be available for firefox running with linux as well?
Cheers,
Maybe one day but I’m concentrating on making it work well for Windows users first. You can monitor progress on this feature request ticket – if I or anyone else starts work on the feature I’ll make sure updates are posted to that ticket.
Will this work with the portable versions of KeePass?
Yes but there are a couple of issues with version 0.7 that might make it a slightly tiring experience. The latest development snapshot contains some fixes but it’s not well tested so you may prefer to wait until version 0.8 is ready.
See Portable KeePass for more detail.
My Firefox say: “incompatible with Firefox-Build-Typ (Darwin_x86-gcc3)” (Mac OS 10.6.2 – Firefox 3.6.2)
Sorry, only Microsoft Windows is supported for the foreseeable future. Although I hope one day we can support other operating systems, it is unlikely to be before version 1.0 is ready (unless someone else can contribute time to help).
Keep an eye on this tracker item for Mac updates.
Hi,
as a newbie user of Keepass I can’t wait for the new version of your – from my perspective – pretty essential plugin. Let me know if I can assist, me being a professional tester.
Keep up the good work
–David
KeeFox cannot correctly read password from field references {REF:@:}.
Keefox was previously working for me. After the new one installed it stopped working, and will not install. I get the toolbar, but in the middle it says “Install KeeFox”. When I click it a chrome page comes up that only partially renders. If I close that page, try to do it again the chrome page tells me the install is already taking place in another tab.
If you want, you can email me, and I will email you back screenshots or any other information you desire.
Please help. I rapidly got addicted to this mod.
I am running Firefox 3.6.3 on Windows 7 64 bit.
I took some screen shots and posted them to my dropbox. I will leave them up for a while.
Here is what I see since the upgrade:
What I see now on my Keefox toolbar
What I see after I click the Install Keefox Button I have waited on this page, for quite a while. To no avail.
What I see if I close the first setup page and try it again.
If I don’t get a response from you I will try uninstalling, and reinstalling the mod to see if that works. I would rather help you debug why this issue happened though so you can apply a fix.
Hmmm I added a comment with html. It has not been posted. Awaiting moderation? Basically I was trying to show the stages of what I previously posted. Here is a text link: http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/4701425/1/keefox?h=06241e to the screen scrapes I took.
Please search the forum and submit new support requests there rather than in the comments – it’s a more suitable system that allows searching, posting attachments and private messaging where required. Sometimes other people can help you out too so you won’t have to wait until I have time to respond (can be quite some time since I’m still trying to dedicate 100% of my development time to getting KeeFox stable and ready for wider use by less technical users).
KeeFox support forum
@Jiri: This is supported from version 0.7.6 and above (0.8 stable when it is released)
@Tim C: Yes, your post got lost in the daily deluge of spam I’m afraid – I’ve approved it now although I think your next one says it all anyway. Can you try creating a fresh firefox profile and installing only KeeFox? and/or selectively disable your other add-ons in case they are causing a conflict? If none of this helps then please start a new topic on the forum summarising the current situation.
Sorry Chris you are right I should have used the forums. Your tip to disable the addons was the ticket. I disabled all the addons except keefox and it worked. Then to find the culprit I enabled 2-3 at a time to see when it stopped. Turns out it was the “Search Helper Extension 1.0″ that gets installed with the Bing toolbar. I had installed the toolbar only intending to use it in IE, but it installed a FireFox version as well. Once I uninstalled the Bing toolbar along with that extension everthing is working again. TY.
I’ve recently had to revert from KeePass V2 to V1 since only KeePass V1 runs on the iPhone. Is KeeFox compatible with KeePass V1? Thanks
Pete
KeeFox requires the new features in KeePass 2. As per this feature request I fear the chances of support being added in future are slim to none.
I am using MyKeePass on the iPhone which supports KeePass V2 if that is any help.
